About our work

On completing an SEO Workshop in West Yorkshire, Jon was approached by Lampshoponline (LSO) to see if we could help with their ecommerce website. 

The problem - a poor return from a Google Adwords pilot study, setup to pre-launch a major push into e-commerce. The LSO team were unsure what had gone wrong and most importantly what they should do next.  

LSO booked us to conduct a review of both the store and Adwords campaign. From that review, a number of issues were found and reported. This was not comfortable reading for LSO, but to their credit, they backed our plan to:

  • Redevelop the client website, retaining the product data feed.
  • Restructure the Adwords campaign entirely.
  • Train key staff in Google Adwords / Analytics.
  • Implement an organic search strategy.

This proved incredibly successful. In fact results improved dramatically. Post website launch, sales sky rocketed - and this was backed by a laser targeted Adwords strategy that kept growing and growing.

This encouraged the senior team at LSO and we were invited to stay involved via an ongoing retainer. This provided a fantastic platform for us to build a plan for growth - which had targets for year 1, 2 and 3.

Sales were so strong we exceeded the year 1 target in just a few months. In fact sales were growing so fast more staff were needed. Quickly!

This led to more training and less desk space. With our central role ensuring the 3 year plan stayed on track, we would visit the client 2 or 3 times a month - mainly to find ourselves perched on the edge of a desk!

During this period, we pioneered many CRO based strategies that have subsequently become more standardised in the industry. From bespoke landing pages to GA experiments and abandonment techniques, we continually evolved the project with our main focus always the same thing. Site conversion rates. 

We developed an incredibly successful Google Shopping campaign and were routinely copied by competitors. 

This was a great learning experience for us and we made many friendships we still have today. That three year period was full of ideas and innovations. We got lots of invaluable experience and always looked forward to site visits. Each visit starting with a project management update but also featuring lots of ideas. 

Today LSO are a £3 million business and has grown very quickly into one of the major forces in the lighting industry...and we are nearly as proud of that as they are!
